What is the P.A.V.

The Pontifical Academy for Life, founded by Pope John Paul II, exists for the promotion and defense of human life, especially regarding bioethics as it regards Christian morality. Its statute was defined by the motu proprio Vitae Mysterium of Pope John Paul II on 11 February 1994.

In the footsteps of Lejeune: A meeting with the family

A short but important meeting at the PAV office, on 4 April, brought together Archbishop Paglia and the family of the late Professor Lejeune: his wife Birthe Bringsted and his son-in-law Jean-Marie Le Méné, Chairman of the Lejeune Foundation.

Professor Daniel Serrao passed away at the age of 88

Professor Daniel Serrao, emeritus member of the Pontifical Academy for Life, passed away on January 8, 2017, at the age of 88. He was among the first members called by St. John Paul II in 1994 to form the Academy.

Mons. Paglia at the US Bishops' Workshop on Bioethics

Friday, February 6, the PAV President, Msgr. Vincenzo Paglia, officially opened the 26th Workshop of American bishops on bioethics, organized every two years at the NCBC of Philadelphia, and entitled this year Healing Persons in a Wounded Culture.

In October, the next General Assembly

The General Assembly of the Pontifical Academy for Life will be held from October 5 to 7, 2017, in Rome and will have the title: Accompanying Life. New responsibilities in the technological era.
